A new paper including Ar/Ar data produced at the OU and co-authored by Alison Halton and Sarah Sherlock is recently published in Lithos. The project included dating of white micas from calc-phyllites in the Korumaz Mountains, producing ages of 87 +/- 2Ma and suggesting a correlation between the dated metasedimentary sequence and the Afyon Zone. Combining the geochronology with petrography and mineral chemistry allowed correlations across the metasedimentary units to be investigated and lead to the conclusion that the metamorphic units of the Korumaz and Hinzir mountains are the eastern continuation of the Afyon and Tavanli zones, and supporting the conclusion that the Inner Tauride Ocean was present between the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex and the Eastern Tauride Belt - a topic of much debate in the literature of the region.
