The Open University’s Young Applicants in Schools Scheme (YASS), which enables S6 pupils to study at university level in the familiar surroundings of their own school, is ten years old.
The first nurses to graduate with a degree at an OU ceremony did so on Saturday, the result of a partnership between The Open University and the NHS with funding from the Scottish Government.
664 new graduates were joined at an Open University degree ceremony at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall by honorary graduates Edwyn Collins, Maria Macnamara, Andy Scott and Ruth Wishart today.
The First Minister of Scotland has presented a lifelong learning award sponsored by the OU in Scotland, to John McAlinden of the Communication Workers Union.
