Mark Russell (2013-2015)

Role

Mark was the Project Coordinator for the Engaging Opportunities Project from 2012-215.  He played a vital role on the project, connecting local schools and teachers with Open University researchers.  Much of this work involved the brokering of partnerships and the development of relationships between these stakeholders.  Mark also contributed to the selection and development of activities that engaged students, teachers and researchers in meaningful ways.

Profile

Mark is a teacher at Denbigh Teaching School in Milton Keynes. He was educated in a Northamptonshire comprehensive school, and then progressed to Loughborough University reading Electronics and Manufacturing Engineering BEng.

Following his degree, Mark started work in IT support at a local school. It wasn’t long before he was involved in supporting teachers in lessons and teaching parts of lessons. It was after this experience he then decided to become a teacher and gained his PGCE through The Open University.

Mark has taught in two schools, including a City Technology College in Corby and Denbigh School in Milton Keynes, where his specialism has been ICT and Computing.

Whilst Mark has been the Faculty Leader for ICT and Business studies, he has a considerable teaching commitment and enjoys working with students of all ages, including students on the Children’s University programme. His passion is all things science and technology related and the development of Computer Science in the new curriculum.
