Fostering Anti-racism in Policing Seminar

How do organisations work towards becoming anti-racist? In this seminar from the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) and the Centre for Policing Research and Learning (CPRL), Chris Excell (Chair of the Black Police Association for the Metropolitan Police) will present experiences and lessons learnt in policing, exploring themes such as workforce, identity and belonging, trust and community engagement. A panel - which will include The Open University's Deputy Dean for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Lurraine Jones, Superintendent Dennis Murray QPM from Northamptonshire Police and Dr Emma Williams, Director of Research and Strategic Partnerships at the Centre - will then discuss parallels and potential lessons for the OU, as we continue our own journey towards anti-racism.

This seminar is for anyone interested in hearing more about what police forces in the UK have done to foster anti-racism, and what lessons can be learnt and applied to the OU's four nations context. It may be of interest to students, alumni and staff (particularly in Law, Policing and Criminology) and others involved in promoting equity, diversity and inclusion.
