New Vacancy: Research Associate

We are recruiting for a Research Associate to join our Centre for Policing Research and Learning to work on a project which is focussed on evidence-led prosecutions in cases of domestic abuse. 

These are cases where a suspect can be prosecuted without the victim providing a statement or being present at court. The project will focus on expanding the evidence base gathered during a pilot project completed in 2023 and will analyse data across three additional police forces.

In this role, you will analyse police case files, conduct semi-structured interviews with victims and CPS professionals and run focus groups with police officers. Additionally, you will be required to help prepare and run knowledge exchange workshops across the three police forces.

The position is full time and is a fixed term contract for 6 months. Ideally we would like the successful candidate to start on 1st September 2023.

Skills and experience:

  • Hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in Social Sciences such as Policing, Criminology, Social Policy, Sociology, Psychology.
  • Willingness to travel to the location of police forces and workshops
  • A strong record of research (such as publications published or publications in pipeline/under review) and/or knowledge exchange (such as organisation of event(s) for knowledge sharing that is related to the position.
