Vacancy - Director of Strategic Partnerships

The Director of Strategic Partnerships will be based in the Centre for Policing Research and Learning, (CPRL), which is a unit within the Open University Business School (OUBS), itself located in the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL). The CPRL undertakes research, education and knowledge into practice projects in collaboration with policing organization partners across a wide range of disciplines and projects. CPRL is led from FBL and has active involvement from all faculties across The Open University.

 

The role

The Director of Strategic Partnerships will co-ordinate and ensure high quality implementation of CPRL’s partnership strategy reporting to the Director of Research and Strategic Partnerships as well as working in close collaboration with the Centre’s leadership team and the Centre’s 24 police partners.  The postholder will strengthen and widen these partnerships to enhance the Centre’s ability, in collaboration with partners, to create and apply high-quality knowledge to improve policing for the good of society. 

Skills and experience

  • A first degree or equivalent qualifications/experience, ideally in business/management, organization studies, education/educational technology, social science or humanities
  • A PhD
  • Research experience, in topics relevant to operational or organizational aspects of policing such as public leadership and management, organizational change, partnership working, social science or science applied to policing. 
  • A track record of academic expertise in research and/or teaching and learning relevant to policing
  • An established profile of research excellence including publications
  • Research design and analysis skills
  • A record of involvement in wider aspects of academic life, such as contribution to academic and practitioner conferences, membership of academic networks
  • Evidence of working with appropriate external national and international networks, and demonstrable ability to develop strong collaborative links, with, for example, government and public services or industry, policy makers and funders.
