Opening Psychology for Changing Times

The Open Psychology Research Centre (OPRC), a new research centre at the School of Psychology and Counselling,  has held its launch event online (28 June 2021- 06 July 2021). We showcased online presentations from Psychologists based in The Open University’s School of Psychology & Counselling. On the final day- July 6^th the Centre was formally opened by Professor Tim Blackman, Vice Chancellor of The Open University, and Professor Ian Fribbance, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. We marked this event with invited keynote talks from Professor Ann Phoenix (University College, London), Professor Helen Spandler (University of Central Lancashire), and Professor Laurence Alison (University of Liverpool). Each keynote were followed by commentaries and Q&A lead by members of the Open Psychology Research Centre’s three research strands: Culture and Social Psychology (CuSP), Forensic Cognition (FCRG), and Psychology of Health and Well-being (PHeW).
