In June 2023, Fidele published a paper titled From the Periphery to the Centre: An Autoethnographic Account of Positionality, Practices and Behaviours of Racialised Minority Leaders (RMLs) as Gatekeepers. Welcome to access the full paper on this link.

In the article, he discusses his insights into performing the role of a racialised minority gatekeeper seeking to engage with service providers in promoting racial equity. His reflections cover the period between 2014 and 2023. He reflects on his experience and observations of other racialised minority leaders' practices. Additionally, his thoughts are informed by his involvement in the OU’s Centre for Voluntary Sector Leadership's (CVSL) research on the leadership of racialised minority networks' engagement and collaboration with service providers. The paper is part of a series. Fidèle is currently working on an article on gatekeepers from mainstream public and civil society organisations and exploring the added value of White allyship in promoting racial equity.

Meanwhile, Fidèle and the CVSL team that includes Prof Siv Vangen, Dr Carol Jacklin-Jarvis, Amna Sarwer (PhD Candidate) and Sahil Mathur (PhD Candidate) are in the process of analysing the data gathered in a series of research projects (Exploring BME Leaders' Leadership Development Needs as they Collaborate with Policy Makers and the Police to Address Racial Inequalities in Milton Keynes (2020-2021), funded by OU Coronavirus Fund and Exploring the expansion of the pool of BME leaders that the Police consults, collaborates and engages with (2021-2022), funded by FBL Seedcorn) and knowledge exchange activities (Overcoming Reliance on Gatekeepers: Addressing Racial Equity Through Meaningful Partnerships and Collaboration with Black and Minority Ethnic Communities at a Local Level (2022), funded by  The Open University in Wales Knowledge, Impact, and Innovation Faculty Fund).
