ESRC post-doc fellowship to boost teacher professional collaboration in Bangladesh

9 August 2021

An ESRC post-doctoral fellowship worth £118k has been awarded to Dr Md Shajedur Rahman (pictured) to continue his work to develop a framework for school-based professional collaboration (F4PC) for teachers and head teachers in Bangladesh.

Dr Rahman, who is based in the School of Education, Childhood, Youth and Sport in the Open University’s Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies, recently completed a PhD study which indicated that the current collaborative activities in Bangladeshi primary schools seemed to have little impact on teachers’ professional learning.

The fellowship award will allow him to build on these findings to develop a framework which will take teachers’ perspectives into account.

This will involve workshops with teachers, headteachers and policymakers, in collaboration with a public university and a government teacher education institution in Bangladesh.
