Robin Workman

My name is Robin Workman, I am a part-time PhD student at the Open University (OU) in my fourth year of study. I have been working in road research for the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) in UK for 10 years. I have a Master's Degree in Development Studies and I specialise in road construction and maintenance in Low and Middle Income Countries, with more than 25 years' experience in Africa, Asia, Central America and the Pacific. TRL is an Affiliated Research Centre (ARC) to the OU, so I have supervisors both from OU and internally from TRL. I became interested in my area of research, estimating unpaved road condition from satellite imagery, whilst working on a project in Nigeria. This work was extended to five other countries in Africa, and my aim is to extend and build on that research for my PhD.
