The School of Engineering and Innovation, STEM is delighted to announce that it has received an Athena SWAN Silver Award following its recent submission to AdvanceHE.

Athena SWAN is an internationally-recognised gender equality initiative, acting as a catalyst for change and cultural transformation, which enables staff to achieve their maximum potential.

The School gained a Bronze award in 2016 in recognition of its work on gender equality and the Silver award recognises that the School took action in response to the challenges identified in the Bronze submission and demonstrated the positive impact of those actions.

The Athena SWAN self-assessment team (SAT) was led by Dr Nicole Lotz and had membership drawn from academic, professional services and post-graduate students within the School.

Professor David Sharp, Head of School said ‘ This is a really fantastic achievement and I would like to thank the entire E&I Athena SWAN SAT for all the hard work and significant time that went into producing the Silver Award submission, and in particular to Nicole Lotz for her excellent leadership of the SAT.’
