Fiona Clark

Fiona describes herself as an average student who left school with a feeling of being “less than” her peers, but with a faint hope that she could do something useful. With a bit of luck, Fiona landed a job as a systems engineer in an unexpected industry that soon turned into a passion. Some 38 years later she is still there, having enjoyed a fascinating and varied career, which has seen her design and optimise equipment to protect front line RAF aircraft from missile attack: “protecting those who protect us”. She is now responsible for defining and driving the development of future systems for 6th generation fighters out to 2035 and beyond. Fiona firmly believes that a positive attitude, strong work ethic, sense of humour and a little luck can allow you to enjoy a wonderful working life.

Fiona was last year awarded a Visiting Professorship from Cranfield University.
