Library Services are delighted to bring Students and Staff access to the Times Higher Education Supplement. You can register with your email for unlimited access to the website and to digital copies of the Times Higher Education. This will give you access to all current articles and past archive whenever you want, with a facility to download and read offline. You can also access the content via their app.

Are you interested? It is straightforward to set up an account for online access using your OU email address. If you’re a student who has not set up their OU email address yet, you can find out how to do this in the Help Centre

Read online

  • To set up your Times Higher Education account, go to the magazine’s homepage at Times Higher Education
  • You should see a banner saying Open University access: log in or register. You must use a email address.
  • If you have registered before with an  email address, use the same log in details. There is a password reminder option. 
  • If you have had a personal subscription, this will need to be closed before you can register with our access. 
  • Please contact the Library Helpdesk service if you have any difficulty.

Access digital editions

  • Set up your registration as above and then close your browser.
  • To access digital editions of Times Higher Education, go to the magazine’s homepage for Times Higher Education  ( and log in with your credentials.
  • Click the “Professional” tab, then click “Digital Editions”.
  • Select the issue you wish to read. 
  • Please note that the two web addresses are different. You must use the first to create your affiliation with our subscription initially, but for the digital edition to work, you need the plain web address. 
  • Please contact the Library Helpdesk service if you have any difficulty. 

Download the app

  • The Times Higher Education app is available on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire. Visit your app store provider to download it to your phone.
  • Select the edition you would like to view (e.g. UK or Global).
  • Log in by clicking on the icon in the top right corner.
  • Select Account, then click “Existing THE account”.
  • Enter your username and password.
