Learning about autism with library resources

In celebration of Autism Acceptance Month – held every year in April – Library staff have created a list of resources which explore the experiences of autistic people and their families.

It's estimated that there are around 700,000 autistic people in the UK and one in 100 children have an autism diagnosis, however, autism can still be misunderstood and stigmatised. This list of Library resources covers autism in the context of technology, employment, education, language and literature, family life, independence, and health. Some of the titles include:

• Divergent mind: thriving in a world that wasn't designed for you by Jenara Nerenberg
• Different, not less: a neurodivergent's guide to embracing your true self and finding your happily ever after by Chloé Hayden
• Late bloomer: How an Autism diagnosis changed my life by Clem Bastow
