The Open University is proud that Milton Keynes has been shortlisted to be the next UK City of Culture. The University, which has its campus in Milton Keynes, is a supporter of the City’s bid alongside MK City Council and local businesses and organisations.

Commenting on the announcement of the next UK City of Culture shortlist, The Open University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dave Phoenix, said:

“The history of Milton Keynes and The Open University has been intertwined since we were created almost 60 years ago.

“While we serve all four nations of the UK and are a university without walls, Milton Keynes is our home.

“Milton Keynes economic and cultural impact is rapidly expanding not just at a regional level but across the UK and a successful City of Culture bid would unlock tremendous opportunities for skills growth in the arts and culture and wider industries.

“We are proud supporters of the city’s bid and will be lending our continued support behind the city for next stage of the contest.”
