Description
Professor Gerry Fowler was Chairman of the E221 Course Team until the February 1974 General Election when he returned to Parliament as MP for the Wrekin, and to the DES as Minister of State for Hig...her Education. Sir William Alexander has been Secretary of the Association of Education Committees since 1945. Just after the programme was recorded he was made a Life Peer for his long outstanding services to education. Fred Jarvis was elected General Secretary-designate of the NUT in 1974. This programme examines whether the 3 great estates of the educational realm - central government local government, and the teachers - are really in partnership with each other, or in competition for scarce resources. The discussion ranges over the fundamental issues raised throughout the whole of the Course.
