Description
In the programme the student hears a group of children discussing an old bird's nest with their teacher, Hywel Jones. luring this discussion Hywel Jones encourages the children to observe, to make ...inferences based on their observations, to follow their own interests and to see how far their interests take them. As the children continue to examine the nest they consider the extent to which it satisfies some of the bird's needs and the means the bird had at its disposal for satisfying these needs. They then make certain comparisons with human beings and their needs. Professor John Merritt who has developed two conceptual frameworks in the correspondence text relates what the children produce during the course of their discussion to those frameworks, in order to illustrate their practical use in thinking about the curriculum: and teaching situations in the curriculum.
