Description
This is the second of two programmes which explore the way in which one local education authority, the Inner London Education Authority, provides additional resources for schools in areas of social... or educational need. In the ILEA, responsibility for deciding how the additional funds are to be spent is delegated to the school. The effects of this policy are examined through discussion at a number of levels, from the Chairman of the Schools Sub-Committee to the staff of a primary school. This programme focuses on the Cobourg Road Primary School, Peckham, London. The head and staff discuss the ways in which they decide how the resources are used and the nature of decisions which they make. The staff explain the effect which such involvement has on decision—making. To the head and the staff the term "resources" has a much wider meaning than only money, and together with a parent manger they describe how the whole community is a resource for the school.
