Description
Leicestershire's comprehensive plan involves three types of school: primary middle and upper. Children attend primary school until they are 11; middle school until they are 14; and upper school unt...il they leave. For this programme, the producer and course unit author, John Raynor, visited one of each of these schools and interviewed the headteacher and several other teachers. From these interviews a brief selection has been made of descriptions and opinions expressed by the teachers, a selection which it is hoped will give some idea of the curriculum in each school. The programme begins with brief statements about the curriculum by each of the headteachers (of the primary, middle and upper schools - in that order). John Raynor then explains the way in which the material of this programme is to be used by the listener. The remainder of the programme is divided into three parts: 1) A montage or continuous series of comments from teachers at the Primary school. 2) A montage of comments from teachers at the Middle school. 3) A montage of comments from teachers at the Upper school.
