Description
For this programme recordings were made at four middle-class mothers and three working-class mothers as they talked with their children. To provide a common subject a toy zoo was put in front of ea...ch mother and child. The mother was then asked to take her child around this Zoo, all the while talking about it to the child. The conversations which emerge are analysed in the programme by Asher Cashdan in order to show some differences in the use of language by two social classes.
