Description
"The programme looks at Sir Humphry Davy's early contacts with the Romantic poets, especially Wordsworth and Coleridge. It includes excerpts from Davy's correspondence and opinions about him b...y his literary acquairtances. The opportunity is taken of presenting a hitherto unpublished poem by Davy. His poetry was regarded very highly by men like Coleridge, and at Wordsworth's request, he read the proofs for the first edition of Lyrical Ballads. Finally, the question is raised of how far his activities that may be properly styled "Romantic" affected the practice of his science."
