Description
The programme takes the form of an interview between A.Phillips Griffiths, Professor of Philosophy at Warwick University, and Dr. Oswald Hanfling, Lecturer in Philosophy at the Open University. The... programme centres on key concepts in Kant's 'Moral Law'. Professor Griffiths begins by putting Kant's work in its historical perspective and showing hew fundamentally new Kant's contribution was. He defines Kant's approach to the problem of ethics in terms of the application of reason to action; and takes account of the criticism that Kant's solution doesn't leave much room for the feelings. Professor Griffiths goes on to deal in detail with Kant's account of 'objectivity' and his view of Autonomy.' He then shows how Kant might have argued his way through some of the moral problems of today. He ends with a justification of moral philosophy.
