Description
Most women in Britain today give birth to their babies in hospital but only a few decades ago the normal place to give birth was at home. Two women from Richmond, Yorkshire, a midwife and a GP talk... about childbirth at home in the first half of this century. They recall how the old fashioned methods of midwifery were gradually replaced and how dettol and gas and air were introduced. Although many mothers would now choose to give birth in hospital, some do regret the passing of the home as the place to give birth.
