Description
In this programme students will hear two specially recorded history documentaries: one made entirely from authentic recordings from the BBC Sound Archives edited with special effects; the second co...nsisting of actors reading from written sources and a 1952 recording of Lord Beaverbrook. Professor Marwick comments on these two excerpts, showing how students should listen critically to aural sources and the merits and faults of radio history. The excerpts deal with the Abdication of Edward VIII but no knowledge of this event is expected of students before they listen to this broadcast.
