Description
This programme continues the theme of the development of aural perception and concentrates in more detail on the ways in which each musical sentence is joined to the next. Dr. Pat Howard demonstrat...es various phrases from a variety of classical sources and also introduces the first two of the four cadence patterns, perfect and imperfect. Dr. Howard gives examples of each, its characteristic sound and its uses. Finally, as a TMA assignment, students are asked to note down the different cadences in the tunes 'Afton Water' and 'All in a Garden'.
