Description
The first of two programmes illustrating the simple harmonisation of a complete melody (Lilliburlero). In this programmes the first four bars are harmonised. The decision as to which notes to harmo...nise is taken after the exclusion of 'non-essential' notes (see Programme 6) and the recognition of any obvious cadences (see programmes 4 and 5). As a means of further practice in aural training, students are required to take down the alto part by musical dictation. The programme aims at a satisfactory harmonisation and in many ways makes use of skills acquired in the previous three programmes.
