The programme aims to give the student some initial bearings in the personality field before they undertake more detailed study. The main issues considered are: the nature of scientific inquiry in ...general and the contrast between psychology and the other sciences; the proposed criteria of repeatability, falsifiability and quantification the idiographic and the nomothetic approaches; personality dimensions (specifically as developed in the work of Eysenck and Cattell); and behaviour therapy.
