Description
In the first half of the programme, Dr. Robert Philip illustrates the development of the chromaticism in Austro-German music between 1850 and 1910 and considers the importance of Wagner. He questio...ns Wagner's view of his own music as 'the music of the future'. The second half of the programme is devoted to the Russian composers Glinka and Mussorgsky, and their influence on 20th century composers.
