Description
In the early years of the twentieth century, many composers felt that the major-minor tonal system was collapsing. Some tried to write atonal music, but most experimented with alternative ways of c...reating a sense of tonality. Richard Middleton discusses some of these experiements, including polytonality, melodic tonality, and the use of new types of chord.
