Description
Statistics, of course, are vital to the management of life in a monetised, industrial society. Statistical theory is also the essential basis of much scientific and educational research. It is impl...icit in the design of research projects and it defines the extent to which the conclusions can be trusted. It is therefore necessary to understand it. However, many students find the formal study of statistics difficult. The programme sets out to reveal that we are already familiar with many statistical ideas through their constant, if simplified, expression in advertising, news broadcasting and economic forecasts.
