Description
This programme discusses the value of monitoring standards of educational performance. Tim Horton of the Open University first interviews Dr. Caroline Gipps who describes how assessment is being un...dertaken by local education authorities. Next he talks to Professor Malcolm Skillbeck about national forms of assessment. Then Digby Anderson of the institute of Social Affairs, Anne Jones, headteacher of Cranfield School Hounslow and Dr. Tim Brighouse, Chief Education Officer for Oxfordshire discuss the value of assessment for the educational system. Finally Joan Salis, a parent and member of the Taylor Committee offers a critique for present forms of monitoring and the way's in which they are presented to the public.
