Description
This radio programme looks at the sequence of events which ensued when the Berkshire local Education Authority tried to close three of its small rural primary schools. But while the television prog...ramme focussed on the events within the Authority itself, this programme sought out the principal objectors in the villages concerned. Their protest campaign is described and we hear their opinions on the final outcome, which was a reprieve for all three schools. But it is generally recognized that this was due more to a fortuitous political situation than to the merits of the arguments of either side.
