Description
This radio programme is about Basil Bernstein's research in the sociology of education. In an interview with Madelaine Macdonald, Lecturer in Educational Studies at the Open University, Bernstein o...utlines first of all the history of his interest in sociology; how he became concerned to study different forms communication in the family, in different social and in different educational settings. He then explains how this interest has led him to formulate a theory of sociolinguistic and educational codes.
