Description
The programme begins with Harold Rosen talking about the sort of context that the primary school affords the young child beginning his school career. He stresses that for language the context is cr...ucial. Connie Rosen then talks about excerpts from a recording that was made as part of the "Language Development in the Primary Schools Project". In it, the children and their teacher discuss a bird's nest that had been built on the school's roof. The programme ends with Harold Rosen describing the strategies that should be followed to give children the opportunity to explore their verbal environment.
