Description
Presenter Rogan Taylor puts the case for football to be considered a religion. He talks to people from Merseyside who are both religious in the conventional sense and also fans of Everton or Liverp...ool. There is much common ground: ritual, blind devotion, chanting/singing, sacred sites, pilgrimage, icons etc. There is then a discussion between Rogan, theologian Elizabeth Scantlebury and psychologist Brian Lancaster. It is recognised that religion cannot be defined, but they reject football on the grounds that it seems to lack a transcendental element.
