Recorded on location in California, the programme features two of the leading figures in the development of micro-electronics, and in particular the micro-processor. Firstly, Gordon Moore, the co-f...ounder on the Intel Corporation in 1968 (makers of the first micro-processors) and one of the founding fathers of the micro-electronics industry. Following on from the interview in programme six of the series, Gordon Moore speaks to Philip Ashby about the development of the chips for the 'Busicom' calculator that led Intel into the micro-processor field. He also talks of the historical developments of the industry as a whole from the 1970s to the present day, in the context of his own predictions for growth, known to all in the industry as 'Moore's Law'. Ted Hoff is the designer of that first micro-processor and he speaks in an interview recorded specially for this series about the design philosophy and how he came to it.
