Footage description: Side 1 : Study Skills. This band aims to give students some idea of what is involved in writing a Tutor Marked Assignment, and of the standards that will be applied to their written work. Through an exemplary TMA question, involving detailed analysis of a passage from Charles Dickens' Hard Times and discussion of extracts from essays by past OU students, various approaches to answering the TMA are discussed and evaluated. Band 2 - Revision. This band offers advice about exam preparation, in particular (1) interpreting the exam question, (2) outlining exam answers to the questions and (3) interpreting, outlining and writing up answers within the time allowed. Sample questions from the literature, music, art history, and philosophy sections of the exam are discussed in detail. -- Side 2: Music for Examination Questions On this side of the cassette there are seven pieces of music as examples for examination questions.
