Description
This programme, presented by Kate Bellingham, takes a look at women working in a very non-traditional area - the construction industry. The first item is about women doing NVQs in plastering, brick...laying and joinery at Liverpool Community College. They were encouraged to do the courses by a local 'role model' Norma Mekki, who wants to start a women only construction company. The second item is a location interview with Barbara Jones who is leading the straw-bale building revival in the UK. The reporter is Sybilla Wilson. The final item is about Blackburne House, a Women's Technology Training Centre in Liverpool. This Georgina building was modernised by two female architects - Maggie Pickles and Gladys Martinez.
