Judith Chemaik introduces the theme of sexuality and love in Shelley's poetry through his treatment of Emilia Viviani. His platonic vision of perfection "Intellectual Beauty' is dealt with in ...terms of both Emilia and Mary Godwin, and Shelley's sexual egalitarianism is described, with reference to 'The Revolt of Islam' and 'Prometheus Unbound'. Finally the author sums up the themes of feminism and sexual love as the desire to overcome division and imperfection.
