On side one of this audio cassette David Boswell, author of Block One of The Open University course "Representing the Nation", introduces extracts from the BBC Radio 3 series first broadcast in 1996 entitled "You're Just as English As You Feel". This series covers several issues in Block One and in the first extract the presenter, Patrick Wright, deals with the consciousness of national identity as addressed by certain British authors. This is followed by the whole of his talk on the viability of English patriotism and the scope for cultural hybridity.
