Description
An indenture was signed in 1691 by Richard Gilpin of Walton, John Gilpin and Thomas Butler, for the sale of some seventy acres of the Walton estate for the sum of five shillings to Richard Newman and Thomas Newman, both of London. The indenture also refers to the earlier purchase of Walton Hall by Richard Gilpin from Bartholomew Beale. It was donated to The Open University by the Earle family in 1985.
