Description
Martina Anderson is from the Bogside in Derry. She left school at 14 and was briefly imprisoned in Armagh Gaol in 1981. In 1985 She was imprisoned in Brixton Prison, and then Durham Gaol where she studied O and A levels and, from 1991, Social Sciences with The Open University. Martina was transferred to Maghaberry Prison in 1994 and graduated with a First Class Honours degree in 1997. After her release in 1998 she worked with Sinn Féin and when interviewed in 2011 was a Member of the Legislative Assembly at Stormont for Foyle and Junior Minister at the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister. At the time of her second interview in 2018 she was Sinn Féin Member of the European Parliament.
