
Description
Student K was imprisoned in Cage 20 (the Compounds of the Maze and Long Kesh prison) in the late 1970s and was Education Officer for the Official Republican prisoners in Long Kesh. His main responsibility was political education but this expanded into liaison with the prison authorities in the provision of academic education. He took two A Levels before studying courses in Arts and Modern European History with The Open University. On release he went on to do a BA in History in Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in History in Cambridge.
