Rosie McCorley is from Belfast. She left school after doing O Levels and then gained an A Level in English Literature and a certificate in Housing Management while working. She was imprisoned in Maghaberry Prison in 1990 studied Social Sciences with The Open University from 1991 and graduated with first class honours in Social Sciences in 1997. She also gained an A Level in Irish. In 1998 she studied a course in French with The Open University sitting the exam for this in Belfast after her release that year. She then went on to study for a Diploma in Irish with Ulster University and a postgraduate Diploma in Translation in Mod...ern Irish with Queen’s University Belfast. At the time of interview in 2012, she was a political adviser with Sinn Féin working with West Belfast Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) at the Northern Ireland Assembly. She was selected by Sinn Féin as MLA to represent Belfast later that year.
