Description
Ulick de Burgh, 1st Marquess of Clanricarde, was a British Whig politician. The son of General John de Burgh, 13th Earl of Clanricarde, he was created Marquess of Clanricarde (part of the Peerage of Ireland) in 1825 at the age of 24. In 1830 he was appointed Captain Yeoman of the Guard in the Whig Government under Lord Grey. He subsequently served as Ambassador to Russia, Postmaster General and Lord Privy Seal.
