Paul Methuen thanks Sampson Low for 'The Iris' which was a collection of religious works first published by Sampson Low, Hurst, Chance & Co in 1830. Methuen praises 'The Iris' and offers to continue to subscribe to the publication. Before 1840 certain classes including MPs and peers could use the 'free frank' system which Methuen refers to in his letter. |
