Description
Charles Beaumont Phipps was a British soldier and courtier. He was appointed an Equerry to Queen Victoria in 1846. In 1849 he was appointed Keeper of the Privy Purse, Treasurer and Cofferer to the Prince of Wales and Treasurer to Prince Albert. He was a much respected and trusted servant to the Royal Household and served them for many years. Following the death of Prince Albert in 1861 he took on additional roles including Secretary, Chamberlain and Receiver-General and Keeper of the Signet to the Prince of Wales as Prince and Steward of Scotland.
