Description
Gerald Valerian Wellesley was a Church of England cleric. He was also the nephew of Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington. He was appointed domestic chaplain to Queen Victoria and became one of the Queen's most valued advisors and confidants. He also became Dean of Windsor. He was a friend of William Gladstone and often acted as an intermediary between the Prime Minister and the Queen who frequently had a difficult relationship.
