Description
Julia Pardoe was an English poet, novelist, historian and traveller. Her writings covered many subjects and had an international flavour. Her most popular book was 'The City of the Sultan and Domestic Manners of the Turks' published in 1837, which was inspired by a trip to Turkey she made in 1835. She wrote travel books about countries including Portugal and Hungary and historical works on the French 16th and 17th century courts.
