Description
Leonhard Schmitz was a Prussian-born author, educator and clergyman. He first moved to England in 1837 and then to Scotland where he was appointed the rector of the Royal High School in Edinburgh from 1844 to 1866, during which time he tutored The Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) in Roman history. He later moved to London and became Principal of London International College and then Classical Examiner at the University of London.
